TOMMY (b. 1973)
“I go by the name Tommy online,
I always fantasised about wrestling, there used to be a programme on in the 70’s called World of Sport, and I remember getting turned on when I was 4 years old. I remember saying to my mum, ‘Mummy my willy feels tingly’, and her body hitting the floor. I came from a very conservative background, Mum had calendars of the Queen on the wall, so to hear that her son might be gay was heart attack material. I didn’t just have to come out to myself about the fact I’m gay, I also had to come out about the fact that I like fighting.
So I was getting more and more into it- the wrestling. When I was online, this guy messaged me and said would I wrestle for money? [After] the match he went up to me and went, ‘There you go’, handed me an envelope with £100 in it. I’d been through a really rough time in my job, I got demoted a while ago because of restructuring. The next day I was at a work conference. But at the work conference, because I’d been paid this money the night before, I suddenly felt empowered.
So I went back to Glasgow and I took my mate out for a pint. I told him all that had happened and I said to him, ‘I think I’m going to start escorting’, and that’s where I am now.”
